New technologies and light come together this year at the 32nd edition of Euroluce, the biennial exhibition devoted to lighting that illuminates the 2025 edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano

Between materials, high-efficiency light sources and advanced sensors, light becomes pure technology capable of shaping spaces and ways of living. Euroluce 2025 has inaugurated the first edition of The Euroluce International Lighting Forum, the new event organized by Salone del Mobile.Milano to tell the story of the experimentation and excellence of new research into light, directed by Annalisa Rosso, Editorial Director and Cultural Events Advisor of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, in collaboration with APIL.

Interactive Light

Technology means lighting can be made highly interactive. The new Posi  lamp from Luceplan, designed by Umut Yamac, plays on this theme, using advanced sensors. This is a light source that goes beyond the concept of the lamp, through form and technology creating unexpected interactions and playful effects. Drawing inspiration from the Japanese art of Ikebana, Posi reproduces the delicate and romantic gesture of inserting a flower in a vase using luminous stems with LED filaments and opal technopolymer diffusers of different heights and forms. The interaction is in the vase, which becomes a switch and dimmer capable of operating and varying the brightness of the light. There is also a portable version of Posi, which includes a slender charging base with cable and power adapter, perfect for those who want flexibility and freedom of use. For those looking for more spectacular effects, the table version with a wider base can accommodate up to five stems, so making it possible to create personalized lighting compositions.

Martinelli Luce also plays on another interaction, this year presenting, among other products, Grammoluce, a light source that combines design, technology and gestural interaction. Its distinctive feature is the elastic Lycra fabric covering the borosilicate glass structure, which deforms under the weight of special glass spheres, becoming transformed into a control system for switching on and regulating the light. Its operation is intuitive: the number and weight of the spheres positioned on the surface change the brightness and tone of the light, thanks to a dynamic white LED source. With light weights, the light remains soft and warm, while adding spheres makes the lighting brighter and cooler. Grammoluce is the third result of the collaboration between Habits Design and Martinelli Luce, completing a trilogy devoted to interaction with light, which has already produced the Elastica and Metrica lamps.

Light and material research

Materials also involve pure technological research and their use creates new functions and new possibilities for light sources as well. Acoustic materials, for example, are used in the technology of Hinpan, developed by Mandalaki Design for Luceplan. A lamp that stands out by its dual function: absorbing sound and diffusing light harmoniously. In acoustic terms, Hinpan is made of polyurethane foam, a highly efficient material in reducing reverberation, capable of absorbing sound waves and improving acoustic comfort indoors. Its suspended “cloud” shape helps evenly distribute this sound-absorbing capacity, making it ideal for open spaces and interiors with high levels of sound reverberation. In terms of lighting, Hinpan is fitted with a built-in diffuser that ensures it sheds a soft, uniform light. The lamp is designed not only to be functional – directly illuminating a worktop or table – but also to create a cozy atmosphere with a combination of direct and indirect light. The integration of technology and design makes it an advanced solution for multisensory comfort in creating spaces with high levels of comfort.

Again this year, Olev works on the theme of soundproofing with Gavin Silence Leaf and Meeting Silence Leaf, both ceiling suspension lamps that use light and stabilized plants, ferns, ivy and eucalyptus, to absorb noise and create spaces that enhance acoustic well-being.

The Orbis lamp, Axolight's 2025 novelty designed by Axolight lab, works with lighting effects and glass. A simple luminous disc containing a highly processed glass diffuser creates a vibrant light that varies according to the angle of observation, endowing the interior with a dynamic and sophisticated atmosphere.

Well-being and light

If light is technology, it is research into light sources and the ability to control colors, brightness and temperature that creates the magic and atmosphere. Vibia works on this principle  with its Shaping Atmospheres manifesto and the concept of Dynamic Light, which stands out by its ability to adapt light to the individual’s environments, emotions and circadian rhythms. This system makes it possible to modulate the brightness, color temperature and nuances of light, transforming lighting into a living and interactive factor, capable of responding to the needs of the occupants of the space. One of the key aspects of this technology is its integration with psychophysical well-being. Thanks to dynamic light control, it is possible to create relaxing or energizing environments, synchronized with individuals’ biological rhythms. Vibia's new collections, such as Offset, Circle and Line, explore the concept of flexible and sensory lighting, using advanced LED dimming systems, color adjustment and high-efficiency diffusers. Vibia Chromatica technology, for example, offers a selection of 18 different colorways for ever-evolving viewing experience.

Grau also ensures well-being with its Sunset Dimming function, which adjusts the color of the light by eliminating the blue components, so promoting relaxation and better rest. The temperature of the light varies from a bright and functional shade of 2700K to a warmer and more subdued one of 1100K, recreating the natural effect of sunset. Or again Vibes technology, which serves to change the brightness and color of the light with a simple touch, creates dynamic scenarios perfect for any time of the day.

For its participation in Euroluce 2025, LedsC4 focused on technology, emphasizing the importance of digital light management and control systems, especially in retail spaces, so enabling lighting to be adapted to the specific needs of users. Its advanced control systems and sensors can be used to adjust color temperature, create customized scenarios and monitor the environment, improving well-being and energy efficiency as well as working on predictive maintenance.

With Dusk from BIG for Artemide, the light spectrum of sunshine enters inhabited spaces through a combination and balance of different spectrums of emission capable of recreating the thousand shades of natural light. This new wall washer accompanies the weather throughout the day with its changes so closely bound up with light, in this way also enhancing the psychophysical well-being of its occupants.

Outdoor Technology

Outdoor space becomes a research area in which technology applied to lighting creates new potential for companies.

Ilti Luce presents various innovative solutions that combine elegant design with advanced technologies. The novelties include the Downlight range of lamps, outstanding by their minimalist and functional design, ideal for spaces that require lighting with UGR<19 and soft indirect light thanks to its opal uplight. Another interesting innovation is the Gravity system, part of the FLEX collection, which introduces a new magnetic technology. This system offers highly versatile lighting, making it possible to create distinctive light effects that can  be customized to match the requirements of any space.

Lodes presents itself at Euroluce 2025 with its first outdoor collection, which stands out by its advanced technological solutions. The products are fitted with built-in LEDs having a color rendering index (CRI) of 92, ensuring a faithful rendering of natural colors. In addition, the brightness is adjustable by means of a phase cut dimmer, adapting to different needs. All products are made of aluminum with weatherproof finishes that mean the devices are designed to last. Installation is simplified, without the need for additional drivers, ensuring fast and clean positioning.

Cariboni Group also works on outdoor systems which, among other products, presents the version 2.0 of Levante, the second generation of the historic line of urban lighting products developed by Cariboni Group. The system supports Blue-Free Lighting, which reduces the blue light content to create warmer and more welcoming environments, and Switchable White, which allows the color temperature to range between 1800K and 3000K. It also comes prepared for the addition of sensors and communication devices, enabling smart city capabilities and the Internet of Things (IoT) on an urban scale.

Slamp presents Nuvem Outdoor, designed by Miguel Arruda, is above all an innovative modular system for exteriors, appearing as an emotional lighting scenography that fully embodies the company's vision, innovation, and unique experimental approach.

In this edition of Euroluce 2025, the companies exhibited the finest that technology can give, in terms of digital innovation and continuous research into materials and lighting technology applied to light, a combination that creates high levels of efficiency while fostering human well-being.
